Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R: What do we know so far?
Design
Remember what all changes the new Ninja ZX-10R features? The same changes are visible on the ZX-6R as well, and it is evident that Kawasaki is pushing itself to offer the best it can.
For starters, the middleweight bike now has an imposing front face with twin LED headlamps, a new design, and a revised windshield. The new ZX-6R is also being offered in two special shades called Lime Green and Metallic Graphite Grey as standard, making it an aggressive-looking sports bike.
Features
To make sure the rider has decent visibility, Kawasaki is offering LED headlamps. Similarly, to continue that premiumness, the ZX-6R is equipped with LED turn indicators and a taillamp. Since it is a modern motorcycle, the old semi-digital instrument cluster has been replaced by a TFT display. For seamless connectivity, it uses the brand’s Rideology App and to alter the performance, four ride modes, including – Sports, Rain, Road, and Rider are also there.
Engine & Gearbox
Making the ZX-6R performance-oriented is a revised 636cc in-line four-cylinder engine, and as confirmed by the brand, it has been updated to meet BS6 Phase-2 emission norms with overall output now rated at 128 horsepower and 69Nm. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, the motor feels completely refined. Meanwhile, adding to the convenience quotient is the availability of a slip-and-assist clutch and a quick shifter for a smoother shifting experience.
Mechanicals
The hardware of the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R remains just like the outgoing model. To be precise, the bike comes equipped with Showa USD forks and a monoshock setup at the front and rear respectively.
To stop the powerful bike, there are dual 310mm discs at the front. However, unlike the front end, the rear comes with a single 220mm disc as standard.
In India, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R compares with other middleweight sports bikes such as Aprilia RS 660 and Honda CBR650R.
