Mercedes has launched its AMG GLE 53 Coupe SUV in India. The Mercedes AMG GLE 53 4Matic Plus will cost ₹1.20 Crores (ex-showroom, pan-India). Meanwhile, as per Mercedes the GLE is the highest selling luxury SUV in India and thus the GLE Coupe might do well in the Indian market.
The Coupe SUV draws its power from a 3.0-litre, six cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine that produces 434BHP of power and 520Nm of torque. However, the engine comes paired to a 48V mild hybrid motor (EQ Boost) that churns an additional 22BHP of power and 250Nm of extra torque. The engine comes paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and 4Matic+ all wheel drive powertrain. Meanwhile, it can do a 0-100 kmph in just 5.3 seconds with a top speed limited to 250 kmph.
Replacing the first generation GLE 43 Coupe in India, the Mercedes AMG GLE 53 gets a longer wheelbase by 20mm. Meanwhile, when compared to the standard GLE the front remains the same. However, the Panamericana grille sitting right at the front distinguishes it as an AMG variant. Other features such as the AMG specific 21-inch alloy wheels, turbo badging on the fenders and AMG exhaust makes it a performance oriented SUV.
Mercedes is offering eight color schemes with the Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe. They are :
- Brilliant Blue
- Canvansite Blue
- Emerald Green
- Hyacinth Red
- Mojave Silver
- Obsiduan Black
- Polar White and
- Selenite Grey
Coming to the cabin the AMG GLE 53 comes with dual 12.3 inch display for the instrument cluster as well as the infotainment system. Meanwhile, both the screens on the SUV is powered by the MBUX system. Other features such as the AMG badging on the seats, flat bottom steering, stainless steel pedals, heads up display, four zone climate control, 13-speaker Burmester sound system, ventilated seats with heating and cooling function, wireless charging pad, 64 colors ambient lighting, panaromic sunroof and electric tailgate are also offered with the Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe.
However, in India Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe will rival the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, Audi Q8 and BMW X6.
