MINI Electric

Exterior & Design

Remember the standard three-door MINI? This is definitely going to remind you of the same. To differentiate it from the standard model, the brand has decided to offer a cover for the grille area, 17-inch newly designed alloy, revised bumpers and a socket for charging. To note, the tailpipes have been removed and several ‘Yellow’ panels are also there to act as a key differentiator.

Interior

Just like the regular MINI, the electrified version also feels premium with lots of features on offer. Starting with the dashboard, it comes finished in around six colour shades as per the buyer’s choice. Also, the seats are covered in high-quality material for an upmarket feel.

Feature-wise, the hatchback is loaded up to the brim with a 5-inch fully digital driver’s display, sports seats, Harman Kardon Surround Sound system, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system to name a few. To keep the tyres in check, MINI Electric is also available with a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard.

Powertrain and Charging

For now, a 32.6kWh battery pack that works in conjunction with a powerful electric motor churns out a massive 181BHP and 270Nm of peak torque. As a result, the electric version of MINI is capable of clocking a triple-digit speed in 7.3 seconds along with a rated top speed of 150kmph.

Another interesting part about this new hatchback is that it is equipped with four drive modes, namely – Green, Green Plus, Mid and Sport. Although the 270km range of MINI Electric is something to worry about and hence, the carmaker has decided to offer fast charging as well.

A 50kW charged can juice this battery pack from 0-80% in just 36 minutes. Meanwhile, the standard 11kW wall charger takes around 150 minutes to do the same.

Electric Cars in India

India in terms of electric vehicles is growing at a tremendous pace. For entry-level, there are electric cars such as Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV available for sale. Meanwhile, several luxury carmakers such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Jaguar have also introduced their electric products in India.
