  • The second generation Mahindra Thar comes with two variants – AX and LX.

Mahindra has launched the second generation Mahindra Thar in India. The price of the base variant of the rugged SUV starts at ₹9.80 Lakh. Meanwhile, the top-end petrol variant costs ₹13.55 Lakhs and the top-end diesel variant costs₹13.75 Lakhs.

Features such as central locking, LED tail lights, fog lamps, adjustable steering wheel and rear parking sensors are offered across all variants. However, the top-spec variant gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, 18-inch alloy wheels, voice command, etc.

Mahindra offers multiple safety features such as dual airbags, seat belt reminder, ABS, EBD, passenger-side airbag with deactivation switch, ISOFIX child seat mounts, etc. on the second generation Thar.

Meanwhile, the engine that powers the 2021 Mahindra Thar is a 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol engine. It produces 150HP of power and 320Nm of torque when paired to an AT gearbox. However, this same engine produces 300Nm with a six-speed manual transmission. The other 2.2L mHawk turbo diesel engine produces 130HP of power with a peak torque of 300Nm.

The company is offering six color options on the all-new Mahindra Thar including,

  1. Rocky Beige
  2. Red Rage
  3. Napoli Black
  4. Mystic Copper
  5. Galaxy Grey and,
  6. Aquamarine

Mahindra has officially started the bookings of the second generation Mahindra Thar. However, the company will start delivering the SUV from 1 November onwards. Recently, Mahindra also auctioned the first unit of the 2021 Mahindra Thar for a massive ₹1.11 Crore.
