This segment is itself a success. Initially, Honda introduced Activa 125 and it really did well. Similarly, Suzuki came up with the updated Access 125 and the brand eventually managed to sell them like hotcakes. Feels like the brand again want to disrupt the segment and that’s why, Suzuki Avenis has finally made its debut with a price tag ranging between Rs.86,700 to Rs.87,000 (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

What’s new?

For starters, Suzuki Avenis will be available in two different trims, namely – Ride Connect and Race Edition. The first one will obviously remain feature-loaded however with normal colour schemes. The manufacturer claims to offer four shades including Pearl Blaze Orange with Glass Sparkle Black, Matte Black with Glass Sparkle Black, Matte Fibroin Grey with Lush Green and Pearl Mirage White with Fibroin Grey. As expected, the latter one will be available with a single Triton Blue colour with MotoGP livery as standard.

In terms of features, both of them will be loaded with an LED headlight, multiple luggage hooks, under-seat storage, digital instrument cluster and smartphone connectivity to name a few. For added practicality, the brand is even offering navigation and an external fuel lid across the entire range.

Engine & Hardware

At the heart, this new scooter comes equipped with a powerful 124.3cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. The overall output from this unit is rated at 8.7PS and 10Nm which does sound familiar. Surprisingly, this is the exact same setup that is also available on Burghman Street 125 as well.

Further, sitting on a telescopic fork at the front and mono-shock unit at the back, it does sound fun to ride. For braking duties, Suzuki has used a front disc and a rear drum setup on this new scooter.

Alternatives

Suzuki Avenis will directly compete against the likes of TVS NTORQ 125 in India. However, if we talk in general, there are other 125cc scooters including Hero Maestro Edge 125, Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter that are available here.
