2022 Volkswagen Tiguan: What’s new?
Exterior
Talking about the overall silhouette, it does remain similar to the outgoing model. But to keep it modern enough, the carmaker has tweaked several components including headlamps, grille, bumper and even the alloy wheels. Volkswagen even claims to offer a new variety of exterior shades. With this new palette, the brand aims to offer an individual experience to every customer.
Interior
Inside the cabin. it remains just like the outgoing model. Thanks to the new steering wheel and a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, that helps to make it feel modern enough. Other features such as automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, ventilated seats and a wireless charger further enhance the overall practicality.
Engine
With a sole 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, the all-new Tiguan will produce a massive 190HP and 320Nm. The carmaker has decided to offer a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox with VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system to make it capable on almost every kind of terrain. To conclude, this exact setup was available on the outgoing model as well.
Alternatives

Jeep Compass
Jeep really did a commendable job by updating the interior of the 2021 Compass. Unlike the outgoing model, the new one does feel premium and that’s another reason why more people are expected to prefer it against any other rival.
Interestingly, the diesel engine available on Compass doesn’t feel underpowered at all. As claimed by the brand, it is truly capable of churning out a massive 167HP and 350Nm that helps in propelling the SUV hard and fast. There’s even a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which is limited to the entry-level variants. Feature-wise, the all-new Compass comes equipped with a large panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, fully digital instrument cluster, LED headlights and a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system.
