To boost the personnel strength of its e-commerce business Paytm has shifted over 800 employees from One97 Communications to its newly-carved entity Paytm Ecommerce Pvt Ltd. Currently, 5,000 people are working for Paytm which also includes the recently launched Paytm Payment Bank.
Recently, the firm has named Amit Sinha of One97 Communications as its chief operating officer. It has also set up its team for various functions Saurabh Vashishtha for marketing, Amit Bagaria for customer experience, Bhushan Patil for logistics and Sunil Goyal for product and technology.
Despite, Paytm Mall is looking to hire 2,000 more employees this year specifically for the new entity.Also, it plans to hire 3,000 agents across the country to push its offline-to-online (O2O) play on the online marketplace by onboarding local shopkeepers to sell their inventory on its platform. Currently, they are focusing particularly on shopkeepers of Tier-II and Tier-III cities. These agents will also enable shopkeepers with Paytm Mall QR code solution.
According to the company, the O2O platform will boost the business of local stores by helping new customers discover them on Paytm Mall, while retailers will get access to valuable customer analytics.
