365 students to re-appear for NEET UG 2019 exam in Bengaluru due to train delay

NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) UG 2019 date has been re-scheduled in Bengaluru “due to circumstances beyond their control.” The re-examination will now take place on May 20,2019.

NEET UG 2019 was conducted on May 5, 2019 at centres all over India but the students, whose centres were placed in Bengaluru couldn’t appear for the exam. The mismanagement occurred due to the delay of Hampi Express that boarded from Hubli to Mysuru via Koppal, Hospet and Bellary.

According to the reports, the train got delayed with a time span of 7 hrs. The NTA (National Testing Agency) took the matter into consideration when grievances were filed by Karnataka and Siliguri (West Bengal) that some of the students could not take their NEET UG examination.

Analysing the matter, Prakash Javedkar, Minister of Human Resource Development, tweeted:

Total of 365 students of Karnataka will get a chance to re-appear for the NEET UG exam 2019.

NTA officially released the list of the criteria for the students, who are eligible to take NEET UG re-examination-

  • Candidates, who were allotted their examination centres in Bengaluru and, who were travelling by Hampi Express to Bengaluru on 5th May, 2019.
  • Candidates scheduled to appear in centre no. 460906, Surendra Institute of Engineering and Management, Dhukuria, P.O, New Chamta, Silliguri- 734009 in Hindi Medium but could not get question papers in that language.

The candidates are asked to approach the city coordinators of Bengaluru and Siliguri to submit their grievances alongwith documentary proof. The last date to submit the requirements is May 10, 2019 before 5 pm.

Though, Chief Minister of Karnataka H.D Kumaraswamy has also urged MHRD to consider the re-exam of those 150 students, who were not able to appear for the exam due to the end time change of the centre from Chikkalaballapur to Bengaluru without any prior info.
