The University Grant Commission is inviting applications for non-NET differently-abled persons under National Fellowship program (NFPwD). The graduate students who are applying for these should complete research in the opted field to attain the MPhil/Ph.D. degree. The total number of seats that will be selected is 200. Of these 15% are reserved for scheduled castes and 7.5% are reserved for scheduled tribe.

Candidates will be selected based on the percentage obtained in their postgraduate exams. The applications are open till June 19 2020. The students can apply online on the website ugc.ac.in. Even the current MPhil/Ph.D. pursuing students can avail the offer. Before applying the candidates have to get the disabled certificate

The fellowship is granted for a maximum of 5 years. Initially a JRF fellow will be getting a total amount of Rs 25000 as fellowship and a possibility of Rs 22000 for the first two years. In addition to that, reader assistance of 2000 and HRA will be awarded.

While pursuing the course the candidates will be given 30 days of holidays in addition to the government and public holidays. Also the UGC stated that the research candidates can avail the one-time transfer opportunity during their tenure.

To ensure more candidates take part in the research activities, the MHRD has announced few changes in recent times. The students pursuing the final year in technology and science courses can also avail the offer. Also the GATE score has to be above 650 to get selected.
