CBSE class 12 results 2017

In response to the growing demand from students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday re-initiated the online application process of verification and rechecking of marks and obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer scripts of the Class XII board examination.

Where the date for online rechecking and verification is currently extended till June 27, photocopies can be obtained till June 30. The details will be uploaded on the CBSE website on Friday.

After being reported at the beginning of the week about inexcusable errors in the totaling of marks in the Class XII exams, CBSE on Tuesday decided to set up two committees to review the evaluation process.

The first panel is appointed to look into the evaluation and post-examination processes to identify the loopholes and lack of proper measures and, also suggest corrective measures for the same.

The second will be studying , analysing and suggesting systemic augmentation in the evaluation process to make the system get back on its feet strengthened.

Out of an approximate 11 lakh students who appeared for the Class XII exams, over 78,000 students  initially applied for verification of marks. But following the news coverage, students started demanding for an extension.

The initial dates for verification was May 31 to June 5, and the application window for obtaining photocopies was from June 14 to 19. But with heavy demands, these dates weren’t enough to cater to all.

On Tuesday, Anil Swarup, Secretary (school education) at the Human Resources Development Ministry, and RK Chaturvedi, chairperson of CBSE, decided that though the problem might have been there for the past three-four years, CBSE should work towards systemic changes to avoid such discrepancies from the next year.

Agreeing that there were umpteen errors in the process, a senior official with the CBSE exam branch said that the difference could be due to a variety of reasons — mistakes in totaling of marks, incorrect transfer of marks to the title page and detachment of supplementary answer books.

Under the condition that the copy “shall not be challenged by any examinee in the court of law or (he won’t) make any claim on this account in any forum”, the photocopy of an evaluated answer script is made available to the students. This has prompted many students to take the Right To Information (RTI) route instead of directly applying for the photocopies. The board has not yet clarified if the pre-condition of the undertaking will be removed to clear the apprehension among the applicants or not.
