The Delhi University (DU) has begun its online registration for undergraduate, postgraduate and MPhil/PhD courses. The registration will be opened till July 4 in the official website.

As reported by the Dean of admissions Shobha Bagai, the entire admission process will take place online. But on its first day of commencement, the server saw many networks crashing, and it was difficult for the students to access it.

Bagai said in the virtual press meet that, “Students are being asked to upload all their documents online and the verification of those will also be done online initially. We are trying to tie with various exam boards to enable this process. Two boards have agreed, and we hope more will too in the future.”

The physical verification will take place once the college reopens.

Further, the dean said that, “Unlike previous years when students were required to select courses and colleges of their choice, this time aspirants will be eligible for all merit courses provided they clear the cut-off.” These two changes are introduced this year.

Few other changes such as 5% deduction of marks for science stream students have been canceled to make the selection process smoother. Also the university has decided to suppress the selection based on the extracurricular activities and sports due to the covid pandemic. The admissions based on these will be considered through their certificates.

Bagai also said that, “For admission in Music (Hons), aspirants will be required to upload their videos on Youtube and send the link, which will be assessed by a panel. For Physical Education, there will be no practical component for admission. It will be done only on the basis of documents.”

The website had witnessed 19543 UG registrations, 5889 PG registrations and 457 PhD registrations as of yesterday.
