Tripura state has initiated special activity-based learning called Ektu Khelo, Ektu Padho’. This effort will commence on June 25. Prior to this, the state has made other alternatives such as online classes, videos etc. streaming through television channels and social media.

However, the pace has gone down as many students didn’t possess enough facilities for online education or they didn’t have access to cable TV channels.

So provide an alternative the government planned a new scheme. This new method involves and focuses on the hands-on activities though WhatsApp messaging or through SMS services.

The education minister Ratan Lal Nath reported to the press that due to the current situation, the government is not able to reopen the schools. However the government also plans to impart continuous education amidst the covid-19 pandemic.

All the public and private places like gyms, schools are closed since March. The government was planning to open the schools in June, but the plan was canceled as per the central guidelines.

The minister quoted that, “The new scheme called Ektu Khelo, Ektu Padho can be accessed via smartphones of guardians. In case no smartphone is available, SMS services would be used to teach students.”

According to the government’s guidelines, the instructions for the lessons and exercises will reach students on their mobile phones every morning. The content will be issued from the state headquarters to the academic coordinators. These people will then monitor the headmasters whether the content has reached the students or not. The performance feedback will be collected in the afternoon.

The headmasters are responsible for collecting timely feedback.

The education minister also said that the month-long series of online classes would again start from June 22.

The state currently has 4,398 government and government-aided schools. It has 335 private schools.
