The government of Maharashtra has announced the exam schedule for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) 2021 exam which is to be held for admission in professional courses.

As per the announcement, the CET exam engineering courses will be held from September 4 to September 20, 2021. The exam schedule is divided into two sessions of 7 days each.

The first session will be held between September 4 to 10 and the second between September 14 to 20. The candidates will have to appear for the exam as per the dates of session allotted to them.

The CET exams for Business, Management, computer science, architecture and hotel management courses will be conducted from August 26. While the CETs for Law courses will begin from September 16.

This year, The state government has also increased the number of exam centres where CET will be conducted. This is done in order to avoid large gathering of students at a single place during the pandemic.

No CET for Non-professional courses

Mr. Uday Samant, The Technical and Higher Education Minister of Maharashtra, announced that no MHT-CET exam will be held this year for non-professional courses like arts, science, and commerce.

The admissions to all this courses will be held on the basis of Class 12 results and merit list as the number of students qualified in Class 12 HSC Exams have increased this year.

Mr. Samant added that The Technical and Higher Education Ministry has asked all the state universities to send proposals for increasing divisions in affiliated colleges so that more seats in this courses can be offered during admissions.

The Higher Education Minister mentioned that requests from several quarters were received constantly for not conducting any CET Exam for non-professional courses this year.

Following the suggestions, The Technical and Higher Education Ministry held discussions with all the universities and then came to the conclusion of holding admissions on the basis of Class 12 merit for non-professional courses.
