The GMTA on last friday demanded for Pay hike due to the tough times of the pandemic and launched a protest also but ended it soon few hours later after the government offered them with a solution.

When asked about the reasons of new strike, Dr. Rajnish Patel, President of GMTA said “We had a high-level meeting with the government’s representatives on May 7, and we were happy and glad that our demands were heard and the attitude of the government was positive. But we have not yet received any written proof of which demands have been accepted by the government. Which is why we have called a new strike.”

But in a counter statement, The Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Vijay Rupani said, “all justified demands have been accepted. As chief minister I request them to withdraw the strike as this is a time to save people together from (corona virus) infection.”

The Health Minister and Deputy chief minister of Gujarat Mr. Nitin Patel in a statement on wednesday said that the government has recognised all the ten issues made by the GMTA and will take major steps to resolve them. The health department is also concerned about its employees and will take necessary actions to fulfill the demands with reasonable solutions.

The GMTA has demanded a increment in Monthly salary, higher non-practising pays, permission for private practising by teachers and sanctioning of allowances and compensation.
