The government of karnataka has deferred the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2021 due to the issues faced around ongoing second wave of the corona virus pandemic in the country and the postponement of second PU or Class 12 exams.

The KCET is conducted as the qualification exam for HSC (12th) passed students to take admissions in engineering, technology, pharmacy, life sciences, neuropathy and other undergraduate courses offered by the state universities.

According to the government, August 28 and 29 are decided as the new dates on which the exam will be conducted. While the test for kannada language will be held on August 30, 2021. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be organized on July 7,8 and 9.

The karnataka examination authority on wednesday has released an official notification. As per the new schedule, following dates and timings are provided for all papers;

  • August 28 (First shift)- Biology paper from 10:30 AM to 11:50 AM.
  • August 28 (Second shift)- Mathematics Paper from 2:30 PM to 3:50 PM.
  • August 29 (First shift)- Physics paper
  • August 29 (Second shift)- Chemistry paper
  • August 30- Kannada language paper from 10:30 AM to 11:50 AM (First Shift) and 2:30 PM to 3:50 PM (Second Shift).

Each paper will be of 60 marks and the exam will be conducted in the conventional Pen-and-paper mode as currently there is no lockdown imposed in the state.

The minister of higher education for karnataka, Dr. Ashwathnarayan C. N. Tweeted with the official notice that “Considering the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, CET 2021 has been postponed.”

The karnataka examination authority (KEA) will shortly start the online application procedure for the exam and will issue application form, admit card and other updates and information on its official website.
