Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahti will be conducting the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2018. The website will open the enrollment, application filling and application submission on September 1 for GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). February 3-4 and February 10-11, 2018 have been scheduled as the examination dates, although, the official announcement is yet to be made, which is expected to come out the following month.

The last time IIT Guwahati had conducted the GATE was in the year 2010. For the year 2017, IIT Roorkee conducted the entrance examination. Once the official announcement has been made, the aspirants can log onto gate.iitg.ac.in to check the detailed notification or, can check this page for further updates.

In order for aspirants to get admitted to the post graduate courses in engineering at all IITs, NITs and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is the sole medium. The examination has also been used by the PSUs in their recruitment process since 2012 and over time, the number of PSUs using the GATE score has steadily increased. In fact, even for recruitment of positions in the Cabinet Secretariat in the Government of India GATE 2016 was used as a parameter.

For female aspirants, the application fees is Rs 750, for SC/ST/PwD category candidates-Rs 750 and for the remaining category, the fee is Rs 1500. For International candidates application fee is $50 (Rs 3238). About 10 lakh aspirants appear for the exam every year, making it one of the most sought-after and competitive exam in the nation.

Furthermore,  the IIT Bombay will conduct the Joint Admission Test for M Sc (JAM) 2018. Dates for the same are unavailable for the moment.
