The Government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to waive off the provision of Upper age limit for admissions in colleges from upcoming academic session 2021-22.

Students can now take admissions in college at any age as per their preference. There will be no restrictions due to age criteria from now on.

As per the earlier criteria in MP, the Maximum age for admission in undergraduate courses was 21 years while for admission in postgraduate courses was 28 years.

The new provision for age limit is mentioned in the guidelines and rules released recently by the Higher education department for admissions in various UG and PG programmes.

In addition to scrapping of age limit, The state government has also offered several other relaxations in admission rules to facilitate the students during prevailing situations of COVID-19 pandemic.

The guidelines have mentioned that in case where Final year results are not available for admissions in postgraduate courses, the student can submit a cumulative score of intermediate years during application process.

However, it is mandatory for the student to update the final year results later on the online portal or via help centre whenever they are released during or after the admission procedure.

Also from now on, the students can choose upto a maximum of seven colleges and minimum one during choice filling of online registration process.

The higher education department of MP has planned to begin the admission process for various UG and PG programmes in all private and government colleges of the state from August 1.

MP government has also revised the eligibility criteria of minimum scores for admissions in UG courses. The students must scores atleast 40 percent in Class 12 in order to take admission in 3-year programmes.

However, this criteria is for only ST and SC category students. While the minimum eligibility score for students of general category is 45 percent and for students of OBC category is 42 percent.
