On Saturday, the Maharashtra School Education Department has stated to immediately announce the results of the 2019-20 academic year for classes 1 to 9 and 11 either through telephone, SMS or online for all the primary and secondary education officers as well as zilla parishad schools.
As per one of the circular issued by the department it was declared that this step is being taken to assure students of their promotion, so that they can begin studying for the next class.
As per the earlier announcement of the department it was said that all students from classes 1 to 8 would automatically be promoted. Later, after the extension in lockdown post March 31, the department announced the same decision for students of classes 11 as well. Besides, this the last paper of SSC was cancelled.
One of the official of the department stated that as per the recent meeting helmed by School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, the department is looking forward to start with the assessment of papers of Class 10 in area of low-risk districts.
As educational institutions were shut before exams could be completed, Class 10 answer sheets have not reached examiners. The biggest challenge prevailing currently is to complete assessment and announce the results.
One of the official also stated that if we start with the assessments after schools resume operations, it will be much more difficult for the teachers. Keeping this in view, a letter will soon be issued by the department. All the districts in green zone, some places in orange zone can permit the examiners to travel.
Moreover, as the last exam has been cancelled by the department, the marking scheme for the papers of SSC is yet to be finalized. A notice has been sent to the boards asking them to finalize it as soon as possible.
The department has request for four-hour slots, 10 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm for the broadcast.The Central Institute of Educational Technology will run programmes on Doordarshan, whereas for radio, audio books will be broadcast through Akashwani.
