The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has announced to cancel the On-demand Exams for Class 10 and 12 in the view of unfavorable situations created due to the second wave of COVID-19 Pandemic.

This exams were earlier scheduled to be held in April-May 2021 but were later postponed untill further notice. Now ending the period of uncertainty, the institute has decided to not conduct any of this examinations.

NIOS has also released a official notification regarding this announcement on its official website and social media handles. The notice mentions that both the practical and theory exams for Classes 10 and 12 stands cancelled.

The reason mentioned behind the cancellation of exams is to ensure the physical wellbeing of students, teachers and other stakeholders. The health and safety of everyone is institute’s top most priority which cannot be risked at any condition.

Now since the exams are cancelled, the results of students will be prepared using an alternate evaluation criteria prepared by NIOS itself. This evaluation criteria will be based on the scores of internal assessments and mid-term exams.

According to Mr. S K Prasad, the Evaluation Director of NIOS, the Evaluation policy to be used for students registered in this ODE exams is similar to that which was used after the cancellation of Public Exams in June 2021.

NIOS will now begin tabulation of results for students of secondary and senior secondary classes enrolled for the ODE exams. The institute will release a separate notification regarding declaration of this results later.

However NIOS has also made a provision for students who are not satisfied with their results based on the evaluation policy. Such students can appear for the improvement exams which will be held after conditions around pandemic normalise.

It must be noted that NIOS has already declared the results of On-Demand exams for both secondary and senior secondary classes held in April 2021. The results are available on the official website of institute, http://nios.ac.in.
