The Supreme Court of India has issued directives to all the state School Education Boards for preparing their own evaluation criteria of Class 10 and 12 students within 10 days. The apex court has also instructed the respective Boards to issue results till 31st July for this classes using the Evaluation scheme prepared by them.

Since most of the states have cancelled the exams for Class 10 and 12 due to the Corona Virus pandemic, the states will now have to tabulate results of all students on the basis of internal assessments. For this, The Division bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari has asked each of the state board to come up with an considerable criteria.

The orders came out from the Supreme Court while hearing of an plea was held which demanded the forced cancellation of all State Board exams. The petitioner also requested the court to set a common evaluation policy for all State Boards across the country. The petition was filed by Anubha Sahai who is a child rights activist and Advocate.

Rejecting the demands made by petitioner, The apex court said that there could not be a uniform evaluation policy among all states as each state Board has different functioning and Exam regulations. If any such policy is introduced, the Boards will take time to adopt them and thus it will delay the declaration of results.

However the SC Bench has ordered all the State Boards to present their Evaluation Policy to the court in next ten days. The Boards must seek an approval from the court before using the Policy for tabulating results. Earlier, The SC granted time of two weeks for similar process to CBSE and ICSE Boards.

There are few states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh who have already announced the evaluation policies while some of the states like Madhya Pradesh have cancelled the exams but has not yet decided over any such policy. However, there are some State Boards like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh who are going to conduct Exams soon.
