The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will hold a meeting on 17th May to virtually Interact with Education secretaries of all states.

The main criteria for discussion in the virtual meeting will be the Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the education sector of the nation. The minister will elaborately review the situations due to the pandemic in each state will the respective secretaries.

This will be the first review meeting by the education minister at state level during the Second wave of corona virus. The Union Minister will also be discussing over the promotion of Online education and implementation of new education policy (NEP 2021).

The meeting will also review the preparation done by each state to overcome the challenges due to the pandemic. According to the status of each state, the education ministry may issue appropriate directions to them in order to ensure that none of the student or any other stakeholder is impacted by the situations.

In the wake of the pandemic, Many state as well as the centre have cancelled or postponed there respective board exams. The CBSE has already cancelled the class 10 board exams and postponed class 12 exams to June.

The circumstances around exams will also be discussed by the national ministry and states. State Boards may announce the pending decisions on exams after the meeting.

The Education ministry has already ordered the states to not conduct any offline exam in May. The UGC has also asked every university to not take any college level exams.

All decision on exams can only be taken when the centre analyses the conditions and grants permission to either held exams, postpone them further or completely cancel them.
