Uttarakhand opens a free school for meritorious students in the weaker sections of the society. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat announced this scheme on Monday.

Those who want to enrol in this school, should clear a state-level entrance test for admission. The school has Classes from 6 to 12, and is part of the state government’s e-Samvad programme.

The school is also open for other students and shall collect fees for those residing in good financial background. This money will be used for to aid the poor children in education. The government is also planning to open a national law college, a residential science college for postgraduate studies, and research besides a skill development college in the state.

The Minister encouraged the students to study hard and focus on their dreams as the government will support them in most possible ways. He also quoted Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam inspiring words and asked the students to not to rest until they fulfil the goals. Most importantly the students shouldn’t get disappointed by the rejections they face in life. They should learn from their mistakes and achieve greater heights.

Minister cited that “He (Kalam) went to Rishikesh, took the guidance of a saint and grew up to become one of the country’s top scientists and later its president.”

He also cited another example about a hard-working labourer in Uttarakhand who then became an IAS officer.

He also insisted the students on choosing patriotism and other field which helps in growth and development of the nation.
