As per UGC guidelines, the final year exams of university students in Madhya Pradesh is scheduled in September. The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the results of these exams would be declared in October.

The government also said that the students in the intermediate semesters in the undergraduate and post-graduate programs will be promoted to next level based on their performance in internal exams and in previous semesters.

Previously the state decided to cancel event the final year exams for both UG and PG students. However, it had contradicted the norms given by the UGC.

As per the official statement the exams will be in online open book examination format.

The statement read, “For evaluation of open book examinations, students will be given a weightage of 50% of the score of the previous years or semester and 50% of the score of the open book examination.”

Around 5.71 lakh students will be benefitted with this decision in the state.

The UGC mandates all the universities across the country to conduct the final year exams by September-end.

Many petitions have aroused from universities and state that sought an explanation as on how they would conduct the exam amidst the rising coronavirus pandemic. Also, states such as Bihar and Assam are facing severe challenges in recovery from the heavily impacted floods.

The pleas will be heard on July 31 by a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan. The UGC and the Centre are expected to file their replies.
