After witnessing a low phase in his career for a last couple of years, actor Sidharth Malhotra seems to be ending the year of 2019 on a happy note. After giving a dud in the form of Jabariya Jodi earlier this year, he is finally enjoying success with his latest film Marjaavaan which is raking in good money at the box office. He is also doing Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic Shershaah. Adding to the excitement, he has got another big film.
According to a report on Pinkvilla, Sidharth will be seen with Ajay Devgn in Indra Kumar’s next directorial project which will be an adaptation of a Danish film.”The paperwork has happened. It’s a social comedy which leaves you with an important message about life. Sid will start shoot for the film sometime next year,” the report quoted a source.
Indra Kumar is known for his comedy films like Masti (2004), Dhamaal (2007), Double Dhamaal (2011), Grand Masti (2013) and Total Dhamaal (2019), although he did not start his career with comedy genre. Kumar debuted into direction as well as production with Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit starrer Dil (1990) and then directed the different concept-based drama films Beta (1992), Raja (1995) and Ishq (1997); all four being among the highest-grossing Hindi films of respective years.
The source further informed, “It requires another male star to be part of the project. It’s an adaptation of a Danish film, that also needs an older actor. The director was discussing the project with Ajay and he really liked the concept. The film has a really meaningful plot line, that is relevant with today’s society, but treated in a really funny manner, in trademark Indra Kumar style. He heard the story and asked him to develop it. Now, he has given his nod to the project. The superstar’s team is currently locking his dates for the film. This will be the first time Sidharth and Ajay will be sharing screen space, but both the roles perfectly suit them. They plan to mount it on a lavish scale because there are several elements in the movie.”
It will be interesting to see Ajay and Sidharth together on the big screen. While Ajay has done a number of comedy films like Golmal frnachise and his recent De De Pyaar De, it will be a tough task for Sidharth to match the steps with the veteran.
