Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, who was recently seen in Anees Bazmee directorial Pagalpanti, is all set to star in a new film titled AK vs AK, according to a report in Mid-Day. The film will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane who has previously received appreciation for his films such as Udaan, Lootera, Trapped, Bhavesh Joshi.
The film will also bring filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap on the big screen. A renowned director, Kashyap has previously appeared in films like No Smoking, Akira, Luck By Chance and others. A source close to the development revealed to the news daily that the story of the film revolves around a filmmaker-actor jodi whose equation turns sour when their big-budget movie tanks at the box office.
“Earlier, the film was to be made with Shahid Kapoor in the lead. It was then christened AK vs SK, referring to Shahid’s initials. However, when things did not work out with him, Vikram approached Anil for the part,” the source said.
After Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap came on board, the film was titled as AK vs AK — a play on their second names. The project is expected to go on floors next month in Mumbai.
Currently Anil Kapoor is gearing up for his upcoming film Malang directed by Mohit Suri and coming out in cinema halls on 14 February next year. Anurag Kashyap is waiting for his Netflix film Ghost Stories which will be premiered on 1 January on the streaming platform.
