Actor-filmmaker Sohum Shah who rose to fame with his lead role as Vinayak Rao in 2018 Tumbbad has joined the cast of Abhishek Bachchan starrer The Big Bull.

The actor took to his social media account to make the big announcement. He wrote, “I am excited to finally be able to tell you guys that I’ve begun shooting for #TheBigBull. Bahut mazaa aa raha hai, aur @Bachchan is fun to work with. It’s also been an insightful experience working with director @kookievgulati for the first time. Looking forward to working with the entire team…can’t wait for you all to watch this film!”

Expressing his immediate likeness for the story of the film, Sohum said, “I am thrilled to be a part of this film. The story of the film is extremely engaging. When I started reading the script, I simply couldn’t keep it aside till I reached the end, it was so engrossing. Plus the character I play is very interesting. Everything about it was so good that I was compelled to say a ‘yes’ immediately.”

Sohum had to undergo intense preparations for his character. Talking about the same, Sohum said, “There is a lot of research gone into my character. My character’s body language, thinking abilities, the look, everything is very different from what I have done before.”

“It is too soon for me to reveal anything else about my character, but I would like to say that the process was fun and I learned a lot as an actor while preparing for this role,” he added.

According to reports, The Big Bull – An Unreal Story is loosely based on the life of Harshad Mehta, an infamous stockbroker who was arrested for financial crimes. The film is based on real events of financial market that took place between 1990 and 2000.

It was alleged that Mehta engaged in a massive stock manipulation scheme financed by worthless bank receipts, which his firm brokered in “ready forward” transactions between banks. Mehta was convicted by the Bombay High Court and Supreme Court of India for his part in a financial scandal valued at Rs 5000 crore which took place on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Directed by Kookie Gulati, the film is produced by Ajay Devgn, Anand Pandit and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Vikrant Sharma.
