Hollywood film ‘Escape Room’ released this Friday in India. The movie has already been released in the USA and emerged as a commercial hit in the homeland. The concept, however, is old, which started with Canadian film ‘Cube’ and later explored in ‘Saw’ series, but the packaging is new.
The film based on a puzzle game, which traps a group of people in a room and they are allowed to escape it only when they solve the mystery and codes. It is a thrilling experience until the climax which is boring and bizarre.
The movie took the game one step further and made it a life and death game which made it even more interesting. Taylor Russell as a brilliant and introvert college student Zoey Davis, Logan Miller as Ben Miller, Deborah Ann Woll as the most layered character of them all Amanda Harper, Tyler Labine as Mike Nolan, Jay Ellis as a successful guy who thinks he is the most superior Jason Walker and Nik Dodani as Danny Khan are invited to play the game.
Unknown to each other there is one common link among them, that is they are the sole survivors of the accident they were in.
The film moves further with other revelations about each character and participants dying at every level.
Director Adam Robitel brought a new packaging to an old concept but failed to keep it new till the last and ended up making a good movie with a bad ending. The film which already impressed the audience across the world will definitely impress the Indians one cannot look away from the fact that gradually it goes downhill.
