Bollywood’s 2019 calendar looks promising as several big to medium budget films are all set to grab the attention of an audience who is here for good scripts with great actors. With movies like ‘Uri: The Surgical Stike’, ‘Manikarnika’, and ‘Thackeray’ lining up the initial month, 2019 is full of great films. Here are the five biggest and most-anticipated Hindi movies of 2019.

Gully Boy

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt Starrer ‘Gully Boy’ is based on real-life personalities of Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy known for their song “Mere Gully Mein” in Mumbai. It explores the journey of a rapper who comes across his love and passion for rapping and then starts chasing his dream. It’s a real story gully gang boys.

The movie is helmed by Zoya Akhtar and co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The movie will release on February 14, 2019.


The movie stars Sushant Singh RajputBhumi PednekarManoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. Sushant is ready to break his ‘lover boy’ image with this film. It is an Indian crime directed by Abhishek Chaubey. The movie is set in 1975 in Chambal, The movie revolves around Sushant Singh Rajput and Manoj Bajpayee leading a bunch of bandits struggling to make a decision about surrendering to the cops. ‘Sonchiriya’ showcases a small town ruled by dacoits where multiple-gangs fight over to attain power.

The movie is slated to release on March 1, 2019.


‘Kesari’ is an upcoming periodic war-drama, featuring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles. The movie is directed by Anurag Singh. It is based on the Battle of Saragarhi. ‘Kesari’ revolves around the character of Akshay essaying the life of Havildar Ishar Singh who participated in the battle fought between the Sikh soldiers and Afgan soldiers and the film captures the essence of the period. The lead participates in the battle while yearning for the respect of his estranged daughter.

The film is scheduled to release on March 21, 2019.


Super 30

The movie stars Hrithik Roshan as an Indian mathematician Anand Kumar. It is a story about economically-backward students who prepare for IIT-JEE entrance exams every year with commendable success rate where Hrithik plays the role of mentor. The film also includes other actors like Mrunal Thakur, Virendra Saxena, Nadish Singh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Amit Sadh as Narrator.

‘Super 30’ is produced by Reliance Entertainment and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film is helmed by Vikas Bahl who is also a co-producer to the film. ‘Super 30’ is slated to release on July 26, 2019.


Batla House

It is an action-thriller based on the Batla House Encounter case that took place on September 19, 2008. The movie is directed by Nikkhil Advani. The incident took place against Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists in Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi. The John Abraham will be seen essaying the role of Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who spearheaded the encounter. The tagline of the film is ‘The story of India’s Most Decorated/Controversial Cop’. ‘Batla House’ is slated to release on August 15, 2019.
