American singer and songwriter Mariah Carey’s successful 1994 song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has made her the first artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in four decades, according to The Hollywood Reporter

The song spends the third week in the latest Hot 100 list dated 4 January, 2020. It first led the charts dated 21 December and 28 December this year. The song was written and produced by Carey and Walter Afanasieff, for Carey’s fourth studio album and first holiday album titled Merry Christmas. It has become her 19th No. 1 song in the list.

In November this year, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” won three records in Guinness World Records for one of the best-selling and most recognizable Christmas-themed songs, most streamed song on Spotify in just 24 hours by a female artist with over 10,819,009 streams in December 2018 and most weeks in the UK single’s Top 10 chart for a Christmas song with 20 titles.

The holiday songs have been ranked in the Hot 100’s top four spots simultaneously for the first time in its 61-year history. It has Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” and Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas” in the second, third and fourth positions respectively.
