After opening to good numbers on Friday, Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria, and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Marjaavaan saw a jump in its collection on Saturday and Sunday.

The film that saw a collection of Rs 7.03 crore on its first day, collected Rs 7.21 crore and Rs 10.18 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The total business of the film of three days stands at Rs 24.42 crore.

Film trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh took to his social media account to share the figures. He wrote, “#Marjaavaan jumps on Day 3… Healthy weekend… Finds patronage from mass markets… Large chunk of biz from single screens… Multiplexes of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities better… Mon biz is decider… Fri 7.03 cr, Sat 7.21 cr, Sun 10.18 cr. Total: ₹ 24.42 cr. #India biz.”

Released on 15th November, the film has received mixed to negative reviews from the movie critics. The film has been panned for its weak script and poor direction. The only positive thing said about the film is Riteish Deishmukh’s performance as a vertically challenged antagonist.

The film that has been described as a masala entertainer has had good business in small multiplexes and single screens while the big metros Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, etc have not shown very good response.

The music of the film has been well received by the audience. The people are enjoying the songs especially Ek Toh Kam Zindagani featuring Nora Fatehi which has crossed millions of views on YouTube. Haiya Ho featuring Rakul Preet has also been doing very well. However, both the songs are recreated versions of old songs from 1980s films Janbaaz and Dayavan. The original songs Tum Hi Aana and Thodi Jagah  have become everyone’s favourite numbers.

Coming back to the movie, Marjaavaan is a powerful mass action love story with the highlight being the battle between Sidharth and Riteish’s character. While Riteish plays a dwarf villain, Sidharth plays a lover boy. The co-producer Bhushan Kumar described the film as “a violent, dramatic love story”.

Written and directed by Milap Zaveri, Marjaavaan is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, Nikkhil Advani.
