Actor Shilpa Shetty took to her social media account earlier today to announce the release date of her upcoming film Nikamma. The film that marks the return of Shetty to the big screen after 13 years will be released on 5 June 2020. Her last major role was in Anil Sharma’s Apne released in 2007. She later made special appearances in some films.
Shetty also revealed the first look of the film on her Instagram page. The picture features the lead actors Abhimanyu Dassani who made his debut last year with Vasan Bala directorial Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Shirley Setia, a New Zealand singer and performer. They can be seen sitting closely and laughing on the floor of a metro train in the photograph.
While sharing the post, the Life in a Metro actor wrote that she had an amazing experience working with the team and is super excited about the film. She said that she can’t wait for her fans to watch the film in theaters.

The director of the film Sabbir Khan, who has previously directed Kambakkht Ishq, Baaghi, Heropanti, said, “Nikamma once again gives me a chance to say a big story with rank newcomers, bring their talent to the fore and give them a platform. This also marks my first as a producer in collaboration with Sony Pictures so super excited to bring this to you in the new year.”
Nikamma is produced under the banner of Sony Pictures Networks India and Shabbir Khan Films. Besides the above mentioned actors, the film also features Naren Kumar and Deepraj Rana.
