After opening to poor numbers on its first day, actor John Abraham led multi starrer Pagalpanti witnessed a poor weekend as well. The film that was being described as a mass comedy has mostly received negative reviews from the critics with one veteran journalist even calling it a “sloppy Tik Tok video” stretched to a feature film. The film collected Rs 5 crore on its opening and saw a growth in its business during the weekend but not enough to give it a good overall weekend collection.
According to a report on Box Office India, the movie collected Rs 6.25 crore and Rs 8.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively putting the total figure of three days at Rs 19.50 crore. The film’s collection comes off as a surprise since it has a huge star cast coupled with comedy genre which is a supposed to be a major crowd puller. After watching John Abraham in 100 cr mega-hits like Batla House, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran and Satyameva Jayate this collection stuns the admirers and box office alike.
Released on 22 November, Pagalpanti boasts of a huge star cast. Besides John, it also features actor Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Ileana D’Cruz, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela and Saurabh Shukla. The film is directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Abhishek Pathak, Krishan Kumar and Kumar Mangat.
Bazmee has earlier collaborated with Anil on multiple films, including blockbusters No Entry (2005) and Welcome (2007). Interestingly, Anil has shared screen space with both Ileana and John in Anees Bazmee’s films; he worked with Ileana in Mubarakan and with John in Welcome Back.
