Living in the 21st century, we call ourselves non stereotypical and of unreserved minds, free of all societal bounds but we all know that the reality is exactly the opposite of it. Though we say we accept everyone without judging them, the truth is that on individual basis we are yet of reserved minds i.e unchanged. We often say “Don’t judge someone by their looks.” But that is just limited as a saying, in our own life, we honestly don’t follow it. We can’t help it but rather than being a hypocrite we can atleast be true to ourselves and others. Pari (Yami Gautam) from Bala has became one of my favourite characters now in Bollywood because she’s the one not hiding anything, she’s real and she’s not afraid of her thinking. It’s better to be what you are rather than pretending to be what others want you to be.

A still from Bala

Niren Bhatt, the writer of the film has beautifully detailed all the characters and the way Pari has been portrayed is what I loved most in the film. Also, the dialogues essay all the scenes perfectly. In the scene mentioned, where Pari finds out the truth about Bala being bald and she immediately leaves his house and her decision of not being in a relationship with Bala further, is being justified very well by the makers. This scene surely stands out in the film, where all your focus shifts from Bala’s life to Pari’s life. You somewhere know that Pari’s point is also valid and she’s not wrong at all.

Loved the way, how beautifully her points have been portrayed without any differentiations between all the three characters. Great piece of writing, is all we can say and a perfect portrayal of Pari by Yami Gautam. .

While Pari stands out as one of the most real characters in Bollywood, the film Bala also shines out in the Mainstream Cinema.
