The trailer to Ritesh Batra directorial ‘Photograph’ has been finally released. The film which had its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and the European premiere at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, garnered appreciation and rave reviews from leading Hollywood publications.
‘Photograph’ stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in lead pair. It is produced by Ritesh Batra, Ronnie Screwvala, Viola Fügen, Neil Kopp, Michel Merkt, Vincent Savino, Anish Savjani, and Michael Weber.
The synopsis reads, “A struggling street photographer in Mumbai, pressured to marry by his grandmother, convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancée. The pair develop a connection that transforms them in ways they could not expect.”
The story revolves around a struggling street photographer who bumps into a girl passing by and asks her to pose in front of the Gateway Of India. The shy strangers gradually become acquaintance and later develop feelings while living a lie, made to convince the photographer’s grandmother.
In an interview, Ritesh Batra said, “The movie is really about the corners of our heart that only others can help us find, and these two actors do a wonderful job of revealing and keeping things from us.”
The film also stars Vijay Raaz and Jim Sarbh. It has been financed by Poetic License Motion Pictures, RSVP Movies, and Amazon Studios and it is slated to hit theatres on 15 March.
