Prakash Jha's next is about religion; titled 'Satsang'!

Indian film producer, actor, director, and screenwriter Prakash Jha has joined the cast of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ along with Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu. The biographical drama will narrate the story of the world’s oldest sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar,  living in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.

Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Womaniya’ which was shelved due to lack of funds was renamed to ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ by the makers and the shooting of the film has been already started.

The film will be directed by Tushar Hiranandani who is a writer making his directorial debut and produced by Reliance Entertainment, Anurag Kashyap, and Nidhi Parmar.

Jha gave a statement, “The enthusiasm the whole team had for me rubbed off on me along with a great part… looking forward to the shoot.”

Director Tushar Hiranandani said, “We are so excited to have someone as supremely talented as Prakash Jha join the star cast of the film. This role was tailor-made for him and we could only envision him for this character.”

Jha tweeted a photo with the Tomar family and wrote, “Shooter ke do aage shooter…

“I have been a Prakash Jha fan since ‘Damul’ and his ‘Parineeti’ being my favourite film. I was surprised by his performance in ‘Jai Gangaajal’ and then the short film he acted in. I think he is perfect for this role,” Kashyap said.

Chandro Tomar, an 87-year-old female Jat shooter is also known as “Shooter Dadi” and is the pride of the district. Mother of eight and grandmother of 15, Tomar has won 25 national championships throughout India.
