After giving three back to back hits this year, actor Akshay Kumar seems in no mood to take a break. The Kesari actor is on a spree announcing one project after another. While a few days ago he officially announced to be doing the spy thriller film Bell Bottom, today he has begun his next project Prthviraj.
Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar performed puja and hawan along with film’s team before commencing the shooting of Yash Raj’s historical film. Notably, Rani Mukerji was also present during the hawan.
Akshay took to his social media account to make the big announcement. He shared a short video clip of the event and wrote, “Here’s to auspicious beginnings ???? Stepping into the world of #Prithviraj. In theatres #Diwali2020! Need your love and best wishes as always.”

Manushi Chhillar received wide acclaim and fame in 2017 after being crowned as Miss World. Now, she is making her Bollywood debut in Prithviraj opposite the ace actor Akshay Kumar. For the longest time, rumours about Manushi’s debut film have been doing the rounds. But the diva has zeroed in on Prithiviraj as her launchpad vehicle.
“It is a huge honour to have been chosen by a production house like Yash Raj Films as their heroine! I’m thoroughly happy and thrilled about the learnings that I will have through this journey. My life, so far, has really been a fairy tale. From becoming Miss India and then Miss World to now getting such a big project as my debut film, it’s like a new, exciting chapter of my life,” Manushi said in a statement.
Talking about her role in the film, Manushi said, “It is a huge responsibility to play princess Sanyogita. She was a powerful personality and she stood up for what is right and took the most important decisions of her life by herself. Her life is an extremely important chapter in Indian history and I will try my best to play her as accurately as possible.”
Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Prithviraj is based on the life and heroism of the fearless king, Prithviraj Chauhan. It stars superstar Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj while Manushi will play the role of the Sanyogita, the love of his life.
The film is expected to release on the occasion of Diwali next year.
