There is nothing new with films releasing directly on OTT platforms now. The pandemic has forced the filmmakers to do so. Thus, according to sources R Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath’s next Tamil film, Maara will also release on an OTT platform. Debutant director, Dhilip Kumar has directed the film.
Earlier, the makers had revealed that they had finished the shooting of the film, with only post-production work on the film going on.
If reports are to go by, then the producers have already signed a deal, with a major OTT platform to release their film. Soon, they’ll even announce the film’s release date.
The R Madhavan starrer film is an official remake of the critically acclaimed and hit Malayalam film, Charlie. Released in 2015, the film starred Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy in lead roles. It was a romantic-drama.
In June speculation had arisen that the film’s shooting was incomplete and the producers were waiting for the Government’s permission to do the same. However, Pramod Film rubbished them as false and gave out a statement, which had read :
We are happy to announce that the shooting of Maara starring R Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath was completed before the outbreak of The Covid-19 pandemic. The post-production work and re-recording will commence soon.
The movie also stars Sshivada, Alexander Babu, and Mouli in pivotal roles. In the coming few weeks, the makers will announce the release date of the film.
