Saif Ali Khan is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming action-drama Laal Kaptaan, where he will be seen playing a ‘Naga Sadhu’. Saif has said that the character was very ‘new’ and challenging for him.
Talking about the character in detail, Saif said, “The core of the difficulty was to know who this person is because there’s this monstrous looking guy who has to do these tough things. Playing a character like this was basically like a Western and an Italian Western in a very Indianized way, set in an extremely wild period exactly like William Dalrymple’s just written a book called the anarchy which is the time when the East India Company was taking over and the Mughal Empire was collapsing. There were pockets of power and everybody was shifting, fighting and things were changing and nobody was secure and everything was up in the air and kingdoms and princes were lost and that’s where the film is set. So if you’ve got a guy like that who is part animal, when he has to growl and he has to say lines and has to deliver. So to find the soul of the character and to actually find what kind of guy this is, that was the hardest thing to do.”
Saif further said that the outfit of the character was too much and it was too difficult to say dialogues and stuff.
