Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which was originally released in India on the 11th of August, 2017, had broken many records within the country, and worldwide. The film received much critical acclaim for the portrayal of the entire movie in a very satirical yet meaningful manner, and proceeded to become the film with the seventh-highest box office gross in 2017. Hence, after months of careful decisions, Reliance Entertainment has finally decided to release Akshay Kumar’s superhit film in the awaiting theaters of China, courtesy of Lianrui Pictures, and the Reliance affiliate Tang Media Partners.

In an official statement, Reliance Entertainment announced that the movie had already been renamed to display Toilet Hero in Mandarin, and would be on air in over 4,300 screens in China on the 8th of June. With the release of Toilet Hero, Reliance Entertainment will have renewed their tradition of promoting Bollywood in China after the long break following the release of 3 Idiots. Toilet Hero had already received an extremely positive response from China during its screening at the April Beijing Film Festival, and is thus, expected to prosper after its official release in the country. In a subsequent statement, Akshay Kumar expressed his happiness and delight upon his movie breaking cultural barriers and reaching out to please the Chinese audience eagerly awaiting its release.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a very satirical movie voicing its support for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rural sanitation campaign, delivered in a very socially aware, yet comedic manner. Shibasish Sarkar has also relayed Reliance Entertainment’s opinion regarding the release of Toilet Hero in China to be a very proud one. The company fully expects the movie to connect with the Chinese audience emotionally and click with them even better than it did in India.
