Toilet: Ek Prem Katha finally made its debut at the theatres of China under the name of Toilet Hero, and it is definitely safe to say the that the numbers have not been disappointing at all. Released on Friday in over 11,500 screens throughout the country, Toilet Hero bore witness to footfalls of around 500,000 people, earning a total of Rs 15 crore gross at the box office, throughout the 56,000 shows which ran around the clock on the 8th of June.

Movie critic Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to provide the statistics and announce the achievements of Toilet Hero, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pedneker, in China.

The movie earned a total revenue or $2.36 million (Rs 15.94 crore) in China, making it one of the biggest openings of an Indian film in China ever. Toilet Hero also debuted at number 2 on the Chinese box office weekend charts, falling short of acquiring the first place from American thriller Black Water by a very small margin.

Quite shortly after Taran Adarsh reported the news, Reliance Entertainment decided to use their Twitter account to congratulate the cast and crew of Toilet Hero for earning a whopping 15 million Yuan on its first day in the country, thereby confirming the grand achievements of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Despite Toilet Hero failing to surpass Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar, Hindi Medium, or Bajrangi Bhaijaan, with all three Bollywood movies having respective Chinese box office revenues of Rs 40 crore, Rs 22 crore, and Rs 18 crore, the Akshay Khan starrer is expected to have succeeded in its motive of educating and informing the Chinese audience about its actual social motive, hidden beneath layers of comedy and sarcasm.
