The small town of Menai Bridge in the island of Anglesey, Wales, was completely closed off for the 3rd of June as Universal Pictures Crew took over many tourist attractions to film scenes for the upcoming Robert Downey Jr. starrer movie The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle. The entire area around The Antelope pub and the Menai Suspension Bridge was closed off for citizens who were diverted along the Britannia bridge for the benefit of the filmmakers, thereby causing much traffic and transportation problems in the area.

The upcoming movie directed by Stephen Gaghan stars actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Sheen in live action roles, and features personalities like Tom Holland, Rami Malek, and John Cena in the ensemble voice cast. The scene which was shot on the bridge today involved a character leaping from the bridge and landing onto a paddle steamer passing below while a giraffe runs over it. The model giraffe which was merely a giraffe head on a machine is expected to be replaced by a CGI version of the animal in Pinewood Studios during post production.

The filming for the movie is expected to continue at the Treborth Botanic Gardens – a restricted region by the Menai Strait, close to the city of Bangor in Gwynedd. Despite Robert Downey Jr. himself not being spotted at the bridge, recent Instagram updates by the actor have confirmed him having the time of his life in the Welsh countryside. The actor had also previously confessed in an interview that he was trying to inculcate a pretend Welsh accent which he has invariably been struggling with during the shooting of The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, which is set for release in the month of April, 2019.
