After a long stage of rumors that OnePlus Watch was back to development once again, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has officially confirmed the Watch in an interview with Input.

Previously, the company abandoned its plans for release of the smartwatch, the rumor was reignited at the launch of OnePlus 8T by the brand itself with a tweeted tease that featured a sketched image of a wearable with the quote ‘What could have been but never will be. Sketches circa 2015’, which referred to its abandoned product.

However, Lau did not reveal why the company was back at work on the smartwatch and also did not mention any particular details on what a OnePlus Watch will include to get the edge on today’s smartwatches. But he stated to Input that the company is working with Google to “try to improve the connectivity between Wear OS ecosystem, Android TV and Android smartphones to create this ability for better device interoperability among the ecosystems.

This sounds like chasing Apple’s level of interoperability – the continuous handoff among its ecosystem which allows Messages, calls/FaceTime and audio connectivity for flowing between platforms. We have to wait and see what this partnership will be able to develop, but this kind of close interworking suggests it will run on Google’s Wear OS.

These are all the available information on OnePlus Watch but there has not been any official confirmation. The others are rumors. The existence of the smartwatch has been leaked in the month of August and later unconfirmed info suggested a round body design. One more rumor stated that there was a OnePlus Watch Cyberpunk 2077 edition, and it might go alongside the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition.

But more rumors are being expected to flow forth now that people know OnePlus Watch if actually in development and now that the information has been revealed, the brand would be more forthcoming with details.
