Reliance Jio is working with Realme and others to decrease the price of 4G handsets and other related devices, according to a senior company official. Sunil Dutt, who is the president of Reliance Jio’s devices and mobility stated that there is a need to offer affordable devices so that people can still use 2G handsets and can upgrade to 4G and 5G.

Dutt stated at the India Mobile Congress 2020 that Reliance is an organization and they have done in the past for 4G where benefits of connectivity were made affordable through JioPhones. On other 4G devices, they are working with Realme and other organizations to try and make devices affordable for everyone.

Sunil Dutt added that Jio is not only looking in the mobile phone segment but also working at other connected devices. The CEO of Realme Madhav Sheth said that in future, 5G will open hundreds and thousands of opportunities for innovation and it will not be limited only to smartphones. He also stated that chipsets have played a very important role in bringing 5G phones to maximum number of people.

He said that we are on a track to 5G not just in India but globally as well and MediaTek has an important role to play. Jio has been a hardware provider and their job is to make sure that basically they are able to bring 5G devices to the maximum number of people at a price that suits their pocket without compromising on technology aspects of the devices.

MediaTek India’s Managing Director Anku Jain stated that the company has seen strong adoption of the digital technology during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also said that they are looking at trends like artificial intelligence, robotics, drones and vehicle automation and the technologies are seen working in tandem with 5G for a smart lifestyle. In 2021, they expect 5G to open doors for faster and smarter connected smart devices.
