2018 has been nothing short of a spectacular year for the smartphone market. We witnessed an innovative race for achieving the maximum screen to body ratio by different mobile manufacturers. Some of the smartphone manufacturers like Oppo and Vivo went so far as to include a pop-up mechanism for the front camera in order to reduce bezels.

The year 2019 is gearing up for a launch of a myriad of smartphones by major companies like Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, and Oneplus and more. These upcoming smartphones are expected to push the boundaries that were set last year. Many smartphone brands are looking to launch their devices in January itself.

Here is a list of smartphones that are expected to be launched in January:

Honor View 20

Just like Honor View 10 was launched in January 2018, Honor is looking forward to launching its successor, the Honor View 20 this month. The View 20 would be Honor’s first smartphone with a punch-hole design for selfie camera. This will allow the phone to have the maximum screen to body ratio without opting for a mechanized pop-up camera or a notch. Honor will be launching the View 20 globally on January 22. The device comes in two variants; 6GB RAM with 128 GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 128 GB internal storage. The 6GB variant is priced at 2,999 Yuan (approximately ₹30,000) while the 8GB variant is priced at 3,499 Yuan (approximately ₹35,000).

The Honor View 20 is powered by the company’s own Kirin 980 SoC coupled with 6GB and 8GB of RAM depending on the variant. The device sports a 6.4-inch All View Display and runs on Android 9.0 with EMUI on top.

The Honor View 20 is powered by 4000 mAh battery.

In terms of optics, Honor View 20 packs a 48-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture paired with a secondary Time of Flight sensor and a 25-megapixel front camera for selfies.

Samsung Galaxy M Series

However, according to the leaks, the Galaxy M10 will sport a 6.5-inch display. The device will be powered by Samsung’s own processor Exynos 7870 coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16/32GB internal storage. M10 will run on Android 8.1 Oreo and will be fueled by 3,400 mAh battery. The cameras on M10 will have a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Galaxy M20 will sport a 19.5:9 screen to body aspect ratio. Powered by Exynos 7885 coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32/64GB ROM, M20 will run One Samsung’s custom Experience UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Lastly, the Galaxy M30 will be similar to the M20 in terms of display, screen to body ratio, and processor. However, M30 will pair Exynos 7885 with 4GB of RAM.

According to the leaks, Samsung will be focusing on its midrange customers with its Galaxy M series.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2

Xiaomi launched its Redmi Pro back in 2016 which bore a price tag of ₹15,000. According to the media report, Xiaomi is expected to launch its successor, the Redmi Pro 2 on January 10 in China. The device is rumored to have a punch-hole display to accompany the front camera, as seen on the likes of Honor View 20 and Galaxy A8s.

The device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC. The Redmi Note Pro 2 probably will be the first phone that will be launched by Redmi as an independent brand after the split-up with Xiaomi. The device is expected to have a 48-megapixel primary sensor.

Lenovo showcased the Z5 Pro as the first phone to have a 12GB of RAM. During the Lenovo Z5 showcase, the company stated that it will be launching in China in January. According to various reports, the Lenovo Z5 will also be launching globally later this month.
