It was reported by The Indian Wire that the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee of Alabama approved betting and gaming bill this week.

The next step for the Bill was to be voted in House of Representatives. However, to everyone’s disappointment, the Bill could not be voted upon and was stalled at the House.

The Democrats and the Republicans could not agree to same terms as the Republicans eventually pushed to bring a lottery-only bill to the floor. There was, however, no agreement of the Democrats for the same.

There was also disagreements over how the money from the bill would be used.

The Bill which visualizes setting up of state lottery and allowing of sports betting and casino-style gambling in the State, if approved, would go before voters in the November 2022 election.

As per Gambling.com, House Speaker Mac McCutcheon said: “Tensions were high because people have been working so hard. Everybody was just really upset at the way things were. There was no effort to pull anything behind anybody’s back. We were trying to get a bill on the floor.

“It’s going to be difficult to get it passed now, at such a late date”, he added.
