The IPL 2020 season in UAE is going on with maximum thrill and passion and so is betting on IPL matches in India.

The news of several arrests and seizing of lakhs of rupees along with accessories such as mobile phones, laptops, TV sets etc. is not coming to a halt.

Several gambling and betting networks continue to be busted across India.

This time, its Goa again, where police arrested 5 people from Calangute Beach in North Goa District.

Police raided a hotel near the beach and nabbed the alleged accused persons for accepting bets on an IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Those arrested were identified as Manoj Thadani (39), Bunty Dangi (32), Chintu Dhoidhoy (32), all hailing from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Rupesh Singh (41), belonging to Mumbai, and Jagdish Nepali (47), a native of Nepal,  reported Deccan Herald (October 11, 2020).

In another event, Central Crime Branch, Bengaluru arrested 4 people for betting on IPL 2020 matches from Yeshwantpur area.

The CCB stated that, “We set a trap near Yeshwantpur RTO. By afternoon, a man arrived and our informant identified him as Imran Basha, the prime accused. We detained Basha and later held the other three”, reported Times of India (October 10, 2020).

The other accused are Mohammed Irfan, Mujamil Ahmed and Roman Vimalraj. In all, police recovered Rs 3 lakh from the accused persons.

In Hyderabad, the Ramgopalpet police nabbed a person who was organizing betting on IPL 2020 matches while the prime accused Mr. Bhandri absconded.

However, the police managed to seize Rupees 50,000 and two mobile phones as well.

In another news, Indore Police apprehended 6 people for betting on IPL 2020 matches on Saturday, October 10, 2020. The police recovered Rupees 75,000 from the possession of accused persons and also seized mobile phones and laptops.

Further investigation is underway in all of the cases.
