The COVID-19 induced lockdowns and restrictions has led casino and gambling operations in Las Vegas Strip to layoff their employees.

It is expected that more than 1,100 employees would lose their jobs following second wave of COVID-19 which means more restrictions and lock downs for non-essential businesses.

Tropicana, Park Theater and MGM Grand Garden Arena venues are reported to be the major affected operators.

While Tropicana has already laid off 702 employees, it is set to lay off around 132 more employees in December, reported Gambling Insider.

Tropicana assistant general manager Mike Thoma wrote, ““We could not have anticipated when our properties would be allowed to reopen and how restrictive the new operating conditions would be, and

the negative impact this would have on business volumes”, reported Gambling Insider.

Park Theater and MGM Grand Garden Arena are expected to lay off 180 and 164 employees respectively.
