Apple vs epicImage Source:Essentially sports

Apple is seeking for damages made by Epic Games when they decided not to go by Apple’s default payment system.

We all know what the issue is and for how long this has been going on. If you don’t know you can check out the inception and the developments on this issue right here.

It has been quite a few days since we have not seen any development between the Apple and Epic games battle. The latest news which we all know is Fortnite won’t be back on Apple devices and it is their own fault because of which the game is out of App Store. This was the statement released by the court.

The same judge also told Apple it couldn’t remove Epic’s developer tools as a way of going scorched earth on Epic because of the case. So both the companies seemed on the same level and it looked like this saga is over.

So now what?

But now Apple has come out with a new legal filing. Apple says, Epic’s intention is thus straightforward: It seeks free access to the Apple-provided tools that it uses and—worse yet—it wishes to then charge others for access to Apple’s intellectual property and technologies.” Basically Apple is seeking back the damages which Epic games made by breaching its agreement by instating its own payment system.

The early filing by Epic games which was a reply to Apple’s removal of Fortnite said that Apple has cut connections of users and the company by removing the game. Fortnite is more than a game. They added, “Daily active users on iOS have declined by over 60% since Fortnite’s removal from the App Store. And removal already has resulted in a loss of goodwill and irreparable damage to Epic’s reputation.”

Apple has responded to this filing by saying, “Epic’s lawsuit is nothing more than a basic disagreement over money. Although Epic portrays itself as a modern corporate Robin Hood, in reality, it is a multi-billion dollar enterprise that simply wants to pay nothing for the tremendous value it derives from the App Store”. This was just a small and main part of the reply.

Microsoft also had its own take in this matter. When Apple planned to stop the support for Unreal Engine, that is when Microsoft jumped in to support Epic games. They felt this would be wrong for the indie developers and many other communities. You can read the whole news regarding this topic here.

Epic is not only facing a battle with Apple but also with Google. Fortnite is also not available on the Play Store due to some reasons. But that is a different case. That is not as much highlighted because it is less dramatic compared to this battle of Apple and Epic.

Google will try its best to stay away from all the media attention and sort out the issue quickly. Let’ see what Epic games come out with after this allegation made by Apple.
