WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to control if they want to be added in a group or not. The feature is like an invitation control system that will let users choose which of their contacts can add them to a group. The feature is currently in beta mode as part of the Test Flight program, and will soon be available to more users with the next beta update for WhatsApp on iPhone.

The invitation control system is currently limited to WhatsApp’s iPhone app as of now and was first spotted by WABetainfo. The feature is expected to come soon to the app’s Android version as well. The group invitation control system on the app is currently inactive because of the feature still being under development. Once the app is fully developed, the feature can be located in the “Privacy” section.

The feature will allow users to choose between three options and will come into effect when a WhatsApp admin wants to use them to their group. The first option is ‘Everyone’, opting for which will allow everyone to add them in a group, without the use for an invite. The second option is ‘Contacts’, which will allow the user’s contacts on WhatsApp to add them to a group. If the user opts for the ‘Contacts’ option, everyone other than the user’s contact on WhatsApp will have to send an invitation to the user, which the user can choose to accept or decline.

Lastly, the ‘Nobody’ option will block everyone from adding a user to any WhatsApp group. If a user opts for this option, it means that admins on WhatsApp will have to send invitations to the user in order to add them to their groups. The invitation will expire after 72 hours of it being sent, so the user will have to accept or decline the invitation within 72 hours of receiving the invitation. Once the invitation is expired, users can only add themselves to the group if the admin resends the invitation. Nevertheless, the users will be able to join a group through a group link invite irrespective of their group invitation settings.

Additionally, the redesigned Settings menu on WhatsApp for Android is widely available to all users running version 2.19.47 of the beta app. The new build also brings rings translated subtitles for the options in different languages.
