CM Yogi Adityanath-led UP Cabinet announces big relief for small shopkeepers; reduces tax rates

In what can be seen a big relief to small shopkeepers, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government on Monday announced to reduce the rate of tax of their shops. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held at State’s capital on Monday which was chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The decision is aimed at giving relief to many small shopkeepers including Tea Sellers, Bread and egg sellers, Tailors who have their own shop.

With the change in the rule, now the shopkeepers having area up to 120 square feet are required to pay only one and a half times of the tax levied on the residential plot of the same area. Prior to this, the shopkeepers having this amount of tax had to pay 5 times tax as the tax levied on the residential plot.

Among the other decisions taken by the government include imposing the penalty on misuse of government’s symbol. Informing about the decisions taken by the Cabinet meeting, State Minister Siddharth Nath Pandey and Shrikant Sharma briefed the media. The State Minister announced that the Cabinet also allowed Lucknow and Allahabad Nagar Nigam to sell their bonds.

While the Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister also gave green signal to transfer the land for the development of Defence Corridor.

Earlier this month, Speaking in the meeting CM Yogi Adityanath promised piped water to every household across the state by the next two years. CM added that the government has already started working in that direction and project will be started soon.
